The process of creating an insurance claim is pretty straightforward in Dentrix. When you receive an insurance check and enter payments, if a patient has secondary insurance, a pop-up message asks you if you want to create a secondary claim. It can be easy to dismiss the pop-up thinking that you’ll come back and create the secondary claim later, but then forget to do so. Why not automate the process of creating secondary insurance claims?

How To

  1. From the Ledger, click File > Insurance Payment Setup.
  2. In the Additional Options group box, check the Auto-Create Secondary Claim with Primary Payment option to enable Dentrix to automatically create a secondary claim (for patients with secondary insurance set up in the Family File).
  3. Check the Auto-receive Secondary Claim if No Pending Ins Estimate option to enable Dentrix to automatically post a zero payment and close out the secondary claim if the insurance estimate is $0.00.
  4. Click OK.
